George Wills (1) and Booker Poirier (0½ -- how's that for a racing number?) battled for
Dinosaur class supremacy in each of AHRMA's Bike Week dirt tracks. Poirier prevailed over
the class champ in two of the three races. Here at the Daytona short track, Poirier got
the win. Bottom: The most successful AHRMA dirt tracker in Florida was John Plumb, winning Sportsman 250 all three times; Classic 500/750 twice, plus second once; and finishing second twice in Sportsman 750. He's captured here on his way to his "worst" finish, a third in Sportsman 750 at Daytona. (Matt Benson photos) |

In a clash of the brakeless Bultacos, John Bova (35) has a slight edge on Donnie Warf in a Classic 250 heat race. Bova, the defending class champion, went on to win the final. The Daytona short track attracted a record number of entries for this event, nearly 150. (Matt Benson photo)
