The Husky was built in the spring of 1998 after being inspired by a simple pair of vintage Pro-Fab triple clamps for a Husqvarna. The bike is basically a stock 1967 Husky 360 with a bolt-together frame. The tail frame is modified in period style to get it up and out of the way. The seat is custom fabricated in period style and is moved forward to close the gap between it and the gas tank. The engine, transmission, expansion chamber, wheel hubs, brakes and handlebars are all stock 1967. The ignition is '68 Husky Femsa. Gas tank is a Wassel (Hipoint) aluminum unit that is a period piece, along with aluminum Husky fenders from 1970. The goal was to produce an easy-starting, reliable, light-as-possible, vintage-correct Husky that I could putt around in the Classic 500 Novice class and look good. I would like to thank John LeFevre of Vintage Husky, Chris Huhn of Vintage MX, Larry at Progressive Suspension, Buchanan's Wheel and Rick Doughty of Vintage Iron for making this project a real fun experience.

The Husky's first outing was '98 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio. The bike ran excellent. I just held on like a limp noodle and finished two motos. Excellent track layout! If you haven't thanked your AHRMA race staff people lately please consider doing so at your first opportunity. The Husky's second outing was the Budds Creek NE/SE regional and again the bike ran flawless. I was terrified of all the jumps, but survived just fine.

My advice would be to build an AHRMA MX, trials, roadrace, flat track or enduro bike in whatever marque you choose as soon as possible and get into these activities!

Thanks to all the AHRMA staff for your dedication and hard work in keeping this vintage sport alive and well!
