1971 Penton Six Days 125cc
By Doug Norman

Here is my 1971 Penton 125 Six Days (serial v4873) restoration project, a joint project
between myself and my younger son, Joe. The bike is almost complete and is rideable. We
plan on running it as a Classic 125 lassic this coming year. We're both dirt riders (as is
my other son, Mike).

A special thanks to Patti and Barry Higgins. I'd been looking for a shop manual for
this bike for a while when I found H&H KTM. I ordered a manual from them, but
unfortunately they didn't have one for an early Penton with the Sachs motor.
Barry thought he might have an old one buried somewhere in the shop...he went hunting for
it, found it, then Patti had it copied and sent along. Hardly a high-margin item, yet they
gladly helped.
Being a simple bike, it's been perfect for teaching my sons about the mechanical basics
without the complexities found in modern bikes. It's also especially fun letting my sons,
who've only ridden modern moto bikes, try "an old one." The limited suspension
and weak brakes are real eye-openers to them, and it helps them understand what it was
like "in
the day."
