Put RED BUD on your 2017 schedule, AHRMA returns to one of the most iconic tracks in America for a full Labor Day Weekend of MX fun. It’s in Michigan, but just a few miles from Indiana, and just a few more from Ohio & Illinois. Keep an eye on the AHRMA Great Lakes Regional page for local events in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Indiana.
Yea, I remember Red Bud. Will try to make that one.
Stan, check out the Nebraska City track. By far the best track in the region!
I looked at a YouTube video of a vintage race. Man that track look very very narrow. Didn’t see to many places to pass. And the dust seemed quite heavy the day the video was made. I liked the basic track, it looked to be more like the old track.
The upper Midwest is short of events again this year. East coast, west coast and gulf states. There are some in the plains states but what about Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Wisconsin and I could go on. The point is that there isn’t any AHRMA events around here. VMX, PVMX, Road Racing, Dirt Track are all short around here. We do have a couple regional groups in Northern Illinois and Missouri but no AHRMA. But if you look around the coasts you see several events. Why, well one reason is no marketing in this area. We don’t have a regional representative anymore. I haven’t seen the one listed on the AHRMA website at any events for several years. That doesn’t help much. I can understand why, it is a volunteer position and now days with work, family and life in general it’s hard to find someone to do it. You have to really love vintage bikes. We have some great tracks here, AHRMA use to race at them. LTM Casey, Log Road, Portland Trail Riders, 800MX, what happened to them. One thing is that AHRMA members didn’t come to the events. I don’t know why, maybe scheduling, weather or laziness, who knows, these are really nice tracks for vintage bikes. Please try to find some races that I don’t have to take 2 days off work for just to travel too. I am 60 now and driving 1000 miles round trip isn’t that much fun anymore.
