AHRMA’s Board of Trustees met in October of 2008 at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum outside Birmingham, Ala., to make final decisions on dozens of rules proposals for the 2009 season. The following article summarizes those actions. The 2009 AHRMA Handbook will be mailed to members with their December issue of Vintage Views.

Each of the numbered items below gives a brief description of the proposal, the preliminary action taken at the July board meeting in Ohio, any discussion that took place at the Barber meeting and then the final action during that same session. Discussion from the Ohio meeting can be found at the end of this article.

The meeting was attended by 10 of the 12 trustees—Tom Bentley, Robert Borg, Craig Breckon, Mark Hatten, Matt Hilgenberg, Dave Janiec, Dick Mann, Fred Mork, Beno Rodi and Corky Root. Absent were John Goodpaster and Rusty Lowry.

New wording in the rulebook is underlined. If you have questions about a particular rule, discussion or vote, contact one of the trustees or a Rules & Eligibility Committee member listed in Section 17 of the handbook.

There are always corrections, updates and the occasional safety-related rule change that occur during the year. These will itemized in the Rulebook section of the website. The complete rulebook will be posted for downloading on the website by the beginning of December.
