AHRMA Life Member Larry Klein of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on March 9, 2015, during a snorkeling accident in the Virgin Islands. Larry was a long-time supporter of AHRMA and Italian bikes. I had a flat tire on my Guzzi in heavy traffic miles from GT Motors -shaken, not stirred, I called Larry, he closed the shop to collect me and my bike in his van-he certainly cared for common man – always had a joke handy to tell when id show up to hang around – i was entertainment for Larry sometimes too, 25 years ago dumping a large coffee can of Commando nuts and bolts on his front cement pad -“whats this Larry”? he -always- knew- and that Commando is the nicest running one i know of today -with his help- R.I.P. “GT”
I bought my first new Ducati from Larry in the 70’s and in recent years several books at various Vintage Days events. I will miss his advice and dry sense of humor. Andare con Dio.
He will be missed, Larry was a old school MC guy.
I always looked forward to the banter and insights at the many meets over the years. Sad to lose a valuable personalty. The motorcycle industry becomes a little less interesting with each passing.
Having known Larry for the last 27 years, I will always remember the extremely long dinners we shared. He always had a smile on his face and a story or joke for even the newest of friends he met at the Historic Motorcycle meets or Vintage races. We will never get to experience the
phenomenon of “Klein Time” again. Larry will be missed by us All.
As a friend of decades and a former business partner (I am the “G” of GT Motors), I can say that Larry was perhaps the most honest man I ever knew. His unique passion for unusual motorcycles provided him and legions of acquaintances with education and amusement.
I cannot imagine that he would ever not be a fixture in my life.
Larry was a great guy with many many friends on both sides of the Canada-US border. Larry was the key player in creating and supporting the Eurobike Race Track rallies at Grattan Raceway with the Ducati Owners Club of Canada starting in the early 1980s and for years afterwards. It’s hard to believe that we won’t see his smiling face again. He will be missed by many. Rest in peace Larry. Godspeed, Graham.
Larry was a wonderful friend, always available to help when he could, it might be a unavailable part that he just happened to have somewhere in his warehouse or advice on how to “Go Fast” or a great book that we must read. He will be missed and In our hearts forever. Pearl & Stan Friduss
