David Rhodes, 2027 AHRMA Trustee Candidate – West.
Hello AHRMA family, I’ve been asking myself, why do I want to run as a trustee? When I commit to a task, I always give it 100% for optimal success. Am I ready to give 100% of my resources? The time, the planning, the research, and keeping an open mind to the opinions of all members. Do I have the skills and experience needed to fulfill the obligations of a trustee that serves our entire community? Am I willing to make tough decisions to affect change if it leads the organization toward a positive and productive future? I’ve come to the conclusion that I am ready to accept this challenge and give the 100% effort required. I want to help AHRMA be successful and prosper.
As I traveled the USA and Canada in my motorcycle racing endeavors over the years, one thing is clear: AHRMA is the closest community of competitors that I have been so blessed to be a part of.
My love for all things two wheels started at a young age. I’ve ridden motorcycles as a commuter, a commonality to hang with friends, and a competitor. My racing endeavors started in 1983 when I attended race school with the Mid West Café Racing Association. Since then, I’ve raced with AHRMA, AMA, WERA, CCS, ASRA, USGPRU, VRRA and various clubs. I’ve raced road race, flat track, cross country, and trials. A couple of the accomplishments that are my personal proudest were winning the AHRMA 2023 RR Formula 250 and the 2025 OR 100cc CC championships. MX is still on my list… looking for that vintage Yamaha YZ125 to follow me home!
My work career spanned 35 years with Anheuser-Busch (Budweiser). I started off in Corporate Engineering. I traveled to breweries as a field engineer managing capital projects, resolving engineering issues, cost/schedule control, and interfacing between contractors and the brewery. In time, I was given an opportunity to advance my career and accepted a position at the St. Louis Brewery. During my years at SLB I climbed the ladder and retired as manager of brewing and utilities maintenance over two decades later. The maintenance team consisted of 58 union trade personnel, and two salaried positions with an annual four million dollar budget. Responsible for maintaining and improving brewery operations 365/24 hours a day. We had to be very creative and resourceful to succeed. How to keep a team motivated and explore options to maintain our budget was my everyday task. I’m confident the skills learned during my career will serve me well as trustee.
I look forward to many more years of enjoying motorcycles and, at this age, want to give back to the community so it can grow for the younger generations. They are the future. I know the AHRMA family will make them feel welcome and invested in our joint future.
Let’s grow this community, go fast, have fun, and enjoy this valuable life.
