Special “Phillip Island International Challenge” races will be held at four of the remaining rounds of the 2018 AHRMA/Flagging by Faynisha National Historic Cup Roadrace Series.

This exhibition class gives American riders the opportunity to run their specialized historic racebikes in preparation for the January 26, 2019 International Island Classic event at Phillip Island, Australia. A featured race at the Classic is the “International Challenge”, with competitors from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The class is open to period-correct, pre-1985 two- and four-strokes (up to 1300cc) in Superbike or Grand Prix trim.

Mark Miller (above) won the introductory event at California’s Willow Springs International Raceway on April 28. Riding an exotic CMR-framed Yamaha FJ, Miller roared to a commanding victory over several Kawasaki and Suzuki Superbikes, a booming Moto Guzzi, and a Yamaha TZ750.

Remaining rounds will be held on Saturday only at select AHRMA Nationals throughout the year: June 9 at Road America, Elkhart Lake WI; July 14 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Millville, NJ; September 1 at Utah Motorsports Campus, Tooele, UT; and October 6 at Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham, AL. All races are post-entry only; AHRMA membership is required.
